This semester follows Serge through his adventures during the Russian Civil War (1919-21), the German Revolution (1923), at Comintern HQ in Vienna (where he worked with Gramsci and Lukacs), and the battles of the Left Opposition within the Russian Coommunist Party (including the original reports on the 1927-28 Chinese Revolution that got Serge expelled from the Party). We will also be reading Serge's chronicles of Soviet Russian cultural life and literature as well as from his novels.

Plus, opening sesssion: "Serge, Anarchism and the Kronstadt Revolt of 1921", a presentation by Richard Greeman and fellow Serge biographer Mitch Abidor.
