Ex-Guerilla Comandante Wins the Presidency in El Salvador
Van Gosse, Mauricio Tejada, Frankie Ochoa & Chelsea Simpson

Salvador Sánchez-Cerén of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), the former Comandante Leonel Gonzalez, has been declared the winner of El Salvador's 2014 Presidential Elections. Twenty years after the end of the end of El Salvador's 12-year revolutionary war, the FMLN is poised to take the reins of government. Join us for a discussion of the significance of this event for the people of El Salvador and for US-Latin American relations. The panel will include Van Gosse, Associate Professor of History at Franklin and Marshal College and former CISPES national staff, Mauricio Tejada, ex-combatant with the Forces of Popular Liberation (FPL) and 2014 elections observer, Frankie Ochoa, co-coordinator of 2014 CISPES Elections Delegation, and Chelsea Simpson, member of the 2014 CISPES Elections Delegation.
