Apple Store Protest - End Smartphone Sweatshops
Green America and China Labor Watch are leading a protest at the Apple Store on 5th Avenue as part of our Bad Apple: End Smartphone Sweatshops campaign.
We'll meet at the "Cube." To RSVP, contact email@example.com
WHAT: Bad Apple Protest in NYC
WHEN: Friday, April 25th, 2014; 12:30PM
WHERE: Apple Store 5th Ave. (Near Central Park)
Meet in front of the “Cube” on 5th Ave between 58th and 59th Streets (Address: 767 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10153)
WHY: Smartphones and other electronics are made with thousands of chemicals, many of which are known to be harmful to human health. Apple is profiting at the expense of the workers who assemble their iconic products in China, even though safer chemical alternatives are available. Apple will listen to its customers, so it’s important we speak up. We are calling on Apple to lead the way in protecting worker health and safety.
Do you use an iPhone? If you do, it’s even more important that Apple hear from you. There is unfortunately no perfect smartphone at the moment, but Apple has made more public promises about its leadership in environmental and social issues than most companies, and we want them to make good on these promises. It will happen sooner with pressure from their customers.
For more information on the protest or to RSVP, please contact campaigns director Elizabeth O’Connell at firstname.lastname@example.org
We hope you can make it! Please invite your friends as well!
