Con Ed is one of the largest energy companies in the world. On July 1, it locked out 8500 workers when the union would not buckle to outrageous concessions. This lockout (which is not a strike) is of national importance. Take a stand against Con Ed union busting on Tuesday!

Utility Workers United Local 1-2 VP John Duffy has described Con Ed as "a very hostile company" and "the perfect example of corporate greed." Healthcare is cut off. The company says it will give 10% raise but doesn't say healthcare would double in a new contract, an actual wage reduction. Company is bringing scabs from Alabama, even though Con Ed said supervisors (5000) could handle work. Voltage in minority neighborhoods lowered, not the 1%. Con Ed made $1 billion in profits last year but want new employees to give up pensions in exchange for a 401K plan.

Duffy said, "In the heart of NYC for a monopoly to get away with it" all unions are in big trouble. He's so right! Be there this Tuesday! Wear your union colors!
