Casseroles March @ Occupy Town Square

Date:
Sunday, July 22, 2012 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location:
Traver's Park, 78th Street and 34th Avenue, Jackson Heights, Queens

This Sunday, Occupy Town Square: Jackson Heights will wear red and make some noise in an effort to raise awareness of the growing education crisis here in the United States that makes access to education increasingly unfair.

We will gather with high spirits to declare that knowledge is OURS.

We will not sit in a classroom taking standardized tests while Corporate Amerika continues to raise the price of our education and alienate the masses.

Quality learning opportunities must be available for everyone seeking them. We are all students with the right to learn.

Tentative Schedule:

Come celebrate Restaurant Week at the Capital Grille--ROC-NY style!

Over many months, workers at the upscale steak house, The Capital Grille, have been organizing to end exploitation in their workplace. This restaurant week, while the Capital Grille, which is owned by Darden Restaurants, will be advertising a reduced price prix fixe menu, we're going to expose an important detail missing on the menu - dignity and respect for the workers who prepare food and serve guests every day. Join the Restaurant Opportunities Center of New York (ROC-NY) outside the Capital Grille-Chrysler Center, because we're hungry too - for justice in the industry!

Greetings Fellow Occupiers!

In case of bad weather we'll meet a few doors up the block at 309 E5t. Now that we have identified the main issues we're campaigning on at the moment (Worker's rights/Golden Farm, public space, Windsor Terrace food desert) we're moving on to discuss how to build Occupy Kensington, by defining what it is and discussing to get the maximum number of people involved. We look forward to seeing you!
