This Friday, May 10 at 6pm there will be an important forum on sweatshop and labor organizing in Haiti, Honduras and El Salvador. There will also be a report by Virgilio Aran, of the "Hot and Crusty" struggle in NYC, detailing the slave like conditions of Haitian workers in the Dominican Republic.

This program is sponsored by the Haiti Anti-Sweatshop Committee.

The Haiti Anti-Sweatshop Committee views the forum as part of an ongoing effort to unite the anti-sweatshop movement in the spirit of labor internationalism. Join us Friday!

Ian Goldin, The former Vice President of the World Bank discusses the problems and the various approaches to global governance, highlights the challenges that we are to overcome, and considers a roadmap for the future in a lecture based on his new book, Divided Nations. Goldin explores whether the answer is to reform the existing structures or to consider a new and radical way of tackling inherent failings.

Haass contends that the United States must sharply limit its engagement in foreign wars and humanitarian interventions in order to reclaim its role as the primary director of global events -- rather than being shaped by them -- and maintain that role in a world of unprecedented chaos and constant crisis.
