“Scientific whale hunting”, is a front for what is clearly a multi-million dollar black market industry, an industry of greed and false science.

The Alliance to End Chickens as Kaporos was started in 2010 to protest the use of chickens in the ritual of kaporos or kapparot, which is a custom practiced by some orthodox Jews right before Yom Kippur. Not mandated in the Torah or Talmud, it is estimated that 50,000 chickens are used in this ritual in Brooklyn alone, every year.

On December 22, 2008, PETA sent out an e-mail alert that rippled across an ecstatic animal rights community: Donna Karan, infamous fur-using fashion designer, had announced that all her Fall 2009 lines would be fur-free and that she had "no plans" to use fur in the future.

Imagine the euphoria this caused among activists everywhere, especially those who had stood in the rain, the snow and the freezing cold, showing their disgust at the depravity of her "fashion", lined up in protest outside her store. The rabbits, so we thought, were just a little bit safer in this world.
