Background info: In 2008 Flaum Appetizing fired 16 workers for organizing a union with the IWW. The NLRB ruled that the workers were fired illegally and should be reinstated and given back pay of $260,000. Moishe Grunhut, the owner, has refused to comply with the order for almost three years. Additionally the workers are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars for stolen overtime wages. Through the Focus on the Food Chain campaign the workers have convinced at least 87 of NYC's most prominent supermarket and grocery store locations to stop carrying Flaum's Sonny & Joe's brand of hummus.
